Six years ago my friends and me were walking from rock pools to Werri beach. On the way we found this massive big head, half eaten with some bones protruding and muscle tissues eaten up. We have just posed for the photograph of our othre catch some bream and did not have any film left in a camera. I did not think of the head much at that time…It is only later when I have tried to identify it through a few books with the skeletons of marine animals I have realized how foolish we were not to take it from the beach. I tell you, it looked scary and the waves were pushing it backwards and forwards, which made it look almost alive. Also there was that foul smell. So that was an excuse for not taking it out of water.
Look at this hair all grey and those white and grey random spots…Hair looks very smooth and silky just like those from seals…
How big it is! I thought. Is it a cow? No can’t be the cow…Horse probably and I walked away.
Next week I was at science lab in one of the schools, they had sculls of horse and a cow…Well it looked nothing like that at all. I remembered the fur…Silky smooth silver fur like from marine animals. I looked in the books tried to compare with all sorts of seals, whales etc…they did not have a row of chewing back teeth…
I had flashbacks for a few years and still have them now.
