Aquarelle and the Orchestra - Peter and the Wolf

Aquarelle and The Orchestra is a response of artist to the Symphony Orchestra rehearsals and public performances. Artist’s role is to “document” process of music playing, focusing on interactivity with listener. Viewers/listeners of the rehearsals – groups of children and adults are to make an input in such “documentation”. “Documentation” process in aquarelle or/and ink is to be documented into video that is to be a part of visualization during orchestra’s annual performance “Fantastical Classical”, which is also recorded and combined into a streaming media on the artist’s and orchestra’s website.

Just then some Hunters came out of the forest, they had been following the wolf...

This water colour sketch was filmed from the beginning - from first brush stroke to the final one, to create an impression of picture painted. There are several landscapes and scenes in the visuals for the Peter and the Wolf, that were painted and photographed to document the work in the progress.

3

Hunters were painted on glossy cardboard with ink, then cut out and moved across the screen with the background painted on a rice paper.

What kind of a bird you are, if you can not swim? What kind of a bird you are if you can not fly?
I always thought about it, if it is applied to an artist:
To Van Gogh:
"What kind of an artist you are, if you can not sell your work?"
Van Gogh:
"What kind of the artist you are, if you only paint to sell?"

I had have traveled to Russia every summer to visit my grandpa from early 70s to 1985. I have painted scenery for Peter and the Wolf from my childhood memories. Some of the landscapes are washed and subtle to resemble the landscape of my travel by train. I have filled in the landscape of memories with the characters of Peter and the Wolf.

He just came out to the meadow. I remember coming out of the gates at grand fathers house. Inside the gates was total different space, vegetable patch, chickens, beehives, abundance of herbs growing like a giant trees. When I came out of the gate the first thing I always did is to climb up the Poplar standing next to the fence and then we would go to friends place and hang on the Oak tree. There was difference to climbing techniques in both, it is always easy to get down from Oak tree and too hard to get down from Poplar. Peter's tree is the Oak.
